Students go on a journey though the history and culture of poetry and spoken word as presented by professional spoken word artists. Performance includes text and information that traces this oral tradition from the African Griot through slavery, the Harlem Renaissance, Hip Hop and the current slam poetry scene. At the end of the performance, volunteers are brought up on stage to create a spontaneous group poem.
