2009 Fall Artist Gathering

Cardboard towers rose towards the ceiling as artists feverishly worked to complete ?Cardboard Cities? at the annual Fall Artist Gathering, ?Together in the Arts.? Held Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Arts Horizons, LeRoy Neiman Art Center, this day joined together AH staff and professional teaching artists across all arts disciplines, to focus on the core goals of Arts Horizons.

A day of sharing, discovery, and group exercises began with a keynote session by Eileen Lyons, a veteran leader in the field of social work. Her session on the features of positive youth development set the stage for Shellen Lubin, theater arts professional, who explored quality arts experiences through music, theater, and song.   The day closed with cardboard cities whereby, John Cloud Kaiser, a visual artist specializing in abstract participatory art, led the group through tenets of creativity across developmental stages.

This collaboration amongst the Arts Horizons community pooled together an exceptional wealth of talent, resources, experience and creative approaches to education to grow strong individuals, schools, and communities.
