Project A.R.I.S.E.

?

In 1992, A.R.I.S.E. (Arts Resources in Special Education), the result of a partnership between Arts Horizons, Artsgenesis, and New York City?s District 75/Citywide Programs, was the largest arts-in-special-education project ever launched in the United States. Funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and private organizations, A.R.I.S.E. promoted the idea that working with the arts (dance, theatre, music, visual arts) can dramatically improve a child?s life.? Through this initiative, professionals in music theater reached more than 17,00 children with disabilities who were not mainstreamed due to their multiple or severe special needs.
